Serene Tay
Founder & Principal Consultant (BehMeh Media)
I am a designer and content producer with twenty-five years of experience across print and digital, working with universities, research institutes, charities and membership bodies. My output spans publications and reports, brand identity and campaigns, exhibitions and event collateral, websites and digital design, video and animation, and scientific and data visualisation.
My career began in editorial and print production, in magazine design, book and long-form publication layout, and typeface design for print systems. Print remains central to the practice, from annual reviews and clinical publications through to artwork preparation and print production management.
I have a long-standing specialism in making complex material accessible, recognised by a Wellcome Image Award for a scanning electron micrograph produced with Professor Khulud T. Al-Jamal at King's College London. The same specialism runs through the rest of my work: translating specialist clinical and scientific research for public audiences, producing public engagement content for the Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition, and designing the infographics and diagrams explaining how AI systems work for an AHRC BRAID Fellowship with the National Archives and the Alan Turing Institute.
Alongside production I work on the brand and content strategy behind it: identity systems and guidelines, content audits and information architecture, and the templates and training that keep content working once a project ends. I led enterprise content migration across five Health Schools at King's College London which included 50+ research divisions, specialist centres, and clinical labs I worked with to restructure and migrate their digital content and architecture. Below is just a sample of some of the biomedical domains I covered to ensure accurate, compliant and accessible user journeys.
Clients include King's Health Partners, the NHS, King's College London, Wellcome, the Royal Society, the Francis Crick Institute, the Historic Towns Trust and the History of Parliament.
